The group contribution method proposed by Golam Mostafaet al. and its use for the prediction of heat capacities of solid binary oxidesis discussed. Cpm(298) for 113 oxides were predicted and the mean error of 4.3%and the maximum error of 26.3% were found. The proposed temperature dependenciesof Cpm of the form Cpm = a + bT + c/T2 + dT2 show in some cases unrealisticbehavior due to the negative value of the predicted constant d.
